At the start of the year, it was every member of the Tigers, hitters and pitchers.

For most of the year though two pitchers really stick out in the wins column though, Jake Peavy and Johan Santana.

Worst injury Award- Aaron Hill 2nd base. Just beginning to emerge into a very decent fantasy option, gone since May with post-concussion symptoms.

Bad Time to get Hurt- Carlos Lee, Ian Kinsler, and Carl Crawford.

Biggest Surprise- Hill's replacement Joe Inglett, played everywhere and kept hitting, not for power, but stayed over .300 the whole way.Alexi Casilla, Alexei Ramirez, finally the 2nd base pool deepens.

Justin Verlander - got him in most of my keepers leagues and tried to target him as much as I could in drafts.
Travis Hafner - predicted a big bounce-back season. What did I get in return? Anything but that.

Players I decided to steer clear on draft day - Eric Byrnes (good move), Chris B Young (good move - he's been decent not justifying his draft position by any means)

Biggest surprise - Alexei Ramirez. Didnt think he would do anything, 20 HRs and 12 SBs later he is still going strong. Top-7 2B next year with only Utley, Phillips, Kinsler, Uggla, Roberts and Pedroia going before him. I'll be taking Ramirez before the likes of Cano, Weeks and Figgins. Unfortunately I didnt even consider him in drafts. Bad move.

Erik Bedard and Rich Hill

Spring training my GDR team started (5 + spot starter):
Santana
Bedard
DiceK
Hill
Escobar
Suppan

Bedard got hurt, Hill got demoted, and Escobar's arm fell off his body.

My playoff starters:
Santana
DiceK
Suppan
Pavano
Millwood
Washburn

Yes, this team made the playoffs, lol. I also have Vernon Wells and Carlos Lee who decided to get hurt at horrible times. AND I have Robby Cano who decided not to show up this year. Somehow, this team made it to a 4 team playoff in a 14 team league w/ great managers. I'm pretty sure Berkman+Morneau scored 95% of my points...

Thankfully in baseball, there are always surprises to bail you out from the injury bug.

Also, I think Carlos Quentin has to be the biggest surprise this year. I actually drafted him in ALL my Yahoo leagues. That paid off about 500x more than I thought it would.

I mean... I expected him to break out off his shell that he was stuck in in Arizona and be a solid 3rd OF for my teams assuming he won an every day gig in Chicago... not an MVP caliber year.

Toss up between David Ortiz (needed his average all season) & Yovani Gallardo. Both due to injury.

Forgot about Quentin, without him I would have missed the playoffs on 2 teams.

Furcal nailed me in most leagues. He's a Grid fave and I was counting on a nice season with 50+ SB's, and in April everything looked good, but I got crushed in that category all year after he got hurt - is he gonna be abck soon, he's almost back... he never came back.

Injuries to Furcal, Carlos Lee and Kinsler troubled me in a few leagues, but no-one really burned me - with the possible exception of Josh Fields. rolz_eyes

I had Furcal and Kinsler on the same squad in MKIA - in fact I had Zimmerman, Pedro and Rich Hill on that squad too, there's another trio of gimpy douche bags. Not to mention Garko who fell flat on his face most of the year.

Man, that crew in a 20 man league, what could have been. ico_cryz
