Welcome to THE UPPER MANAGEMENT. Fantasy Sports Neighborhood.
You are currently viewing the UM as a guest, which gives you limited access to view most discussions and access our other features.
The UM opened August 17th, 2007 as a handpicked 100 members who were asked to join for their smarts and community involvement. But the word got out that the UM neighborhood is not just your average start up community! .... Members begun jumping in from word of mouth .. and now the UM stands at 300+ members and over 30,000 posts and growing!
The site has it's very own Texas Holdem table which has members playing against each other 24/7! .. MLB Gameday audio only for the community. A live chat room, fantasy leagues with the winner landing up to 100 dollars in prizes. We also have our own FREE Baseball draft kit for our UM members, as well as an upcomming Football draft kit. We run our own monthly MILB prospect list. But most importantly .. The UM has grown into a community of sports friends. So jump in and, join the UM today! |

| YB, just want to say, you did a fantastic job with this article. As we embark on the first year of this sites existance, it was nice to take a step back and reminise on some of the events which led up to the UM and what's happening with it today! Really nice work!

Guys, feel free to comment on anything I said, or any memory that you have which I failed to mention. I would like this discussion to be people sharing memories they have had of this site over the past year _________________

Hey YB, this is the best read to date. Here are some things that made me laugh (from top to bottom)...
1. calling Commish, Admin's bitch. Sorry Commish
2. I got the same PM on FIC - still got it I think
3. taking a pot shot at Biz's grammar - CLASSIC. Sorry Biz
4. UM Debate - but what you failed to mention was me kicking your ass LOL
5. Assie awards - that was pretty fun. I reall hope Biz and Commish have something like that again this year.
6. Draft Kit - lol, man how hard was that. Again thanx for all the help.
7. lol those adds - fantasy fishing (who does that), sex adds, ohh and that 'CLAN' add (I'm sure it was a gaming CLAN LOL)
We've come a long way...

1) I had to do it, Commish is the perfect person to take a shot at because he has fun with it.
3) That was legitimately copy and pasted the PM I got on FIC. I read it over and the first thing that came to mind was the grammar, I couldnt help it
4) What you fail to realize is that the voters were completely retarded. Who won the 2007 WS? Red Sox. Who did I say was gonna win? Red Sox. Fuck the voters, I am all about real life results, lol
6) I decided not to mention the PM you sent me 2 days after the kits release where I think you called me a savior. Either way, with how poorly that was participated in, I think that making a better kit then that will be easy
7) My two new favorite adds are the Christians Singles Dating Board and the Jewish Dating Board. I am tempted to sign up for both, lol _________________

I got to admit that the Great Debate is still my favorite activity on the site. If done correctly, it's the 1 implamentation that resembles what this sites soppose to represent. The issue with it is timing and finding a way to have members commit to a certain time and place to compete in the GD.
That last time we tried the GB, there was 85 members, I think now bordering on 300, this is a more suitable activity. I will work with some of the reps and try and bring that back again, with some twists.

I tried not to do any name drops. Biz and Commish were must mentions, because I was able to make fun of them both, and they are both pretty important. Other then that, besides mentioning darko as the head of the baseball kit, I dont think I mentioned any other user by name.
And dont worry, my next article will be in by next Friday hopefully. I plan to do a weekly article, time permitting. _________________

YB-
Nice job on a challenging subject;
-----------
I feel as though you may have sugarcoated things a bit and not been completely blunt about some important issues,,,,,
----------
1) The incessant need of the site admin to stretch himself too thin by trying to run, recruit, commish, and control too many leagues,,
2) The inability to try something new on the site and give it a chance- IE: anytime one person disagrees, site additions get taken down almost as quickly as they are added,,,
3) Forum activities have been started and then ignored more times than not,,,Patience is a virtue,,,,
4) Telling everybody for months that the site has google ads because it is hosted for free and then adding a donation box to pay for the site is a catch-22,,,even more so when the aforementioned site add-ons disappear almost as quickly as they appear,,,
5) Asking for input on league setups and downright ignoring all input for the most part in favor of the opinion of one or two longtime internet "Friends",,,,
-----------------
Alas, lets also not forget some positives that could have been recounted
------------------
1) Grid - Infamous, loveable like a meth addict with her pants down, and a great addition to any site even if you have to edit 82.6% of his posts,,,
2) The inagaural CEO baseball league
3) The UM baseball draft kit,,,,and "all" of the contributors,,,
------------
Enough is enough- You did a sophmoric job on the article and all in all its "ok",,,,but if you aim to pen your name to a published work some day then you need to address all sides,,,,
That was the point of my aforementioned and seemingly bullish commentary,,,,
By challenging the weaknesses of the site thus far amidst your glamourized promotion of its positives you are doing your part to push it towards the unkown,,,
------------
Another shithole forum amongst millions?
Or a stepping stone to another respected full blown website? _________________

Among your incoherent ramblings, I found nothing that resembled and answer. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.
Delb, I was not asked to write a peice smashing UM, but detailing its growth in one year. Trust me, I could write a 20 page article about specific things wrong with this site. I do agree that Biz is way too over worked, and that his bitch Commish needs to stop worrying about his wife and start worrying about the forum, lol. I disagree that Biz only asks for the opinion of certain members, and only puts his apples in one basket. I have PMed/IMed multiple members when Biz asks me about potential additions, and they say that Biz has asked them as well. Also, what is the harm in soliciting people for money? If someone wants to donate to the site, then let them.
My "sophmoric" job of writing is because I refuse to point out the negatives, because the positives out weigh them by so much. Again, I would rather not write an article about UMs 1 yr birthday and slam UM in the process. I think right now is a time to reflect on the positives, and save your pessimistic bullshit for the Admin board, lol. _________________

Blah- keep forgetting to log in!
---------
But YB, here is the thing- when you write a piece about a site's first year you have to be honest with your readers,,,
Seriously- the realities of some of my points have certainly shone through to many,,
Its not a slam or slight, its a mere pointing of fact as we all work to improve, enhance, and build upon the great foundation we have established,,,,,
-----------
Admittedly, I threw in the "sophmoric" pun to get a rise out of you- and that's one of the things I personally enjoy about this place-
We can build a top notch fantasy squad while letting off a bit of steam by chastizing the latest box office flop!
--------------
As I opened with, it was a good article and I was merely trying to point out that in many ways it is just as helpful and positive to realize the negatives as much as the positives as we work towards a bigger, stronger, mightier, UM!
