| Brandon Webb won his 19th game and it's only August 22nd. They say that he will probably make 7 more starts.

Red Sox optioned RHP Clay Buchholz to Double-A Portland. The Red Sox likely would have skipped his next start anyway, and with the minor league season ending in a week and a half, the team wants him to have a couple of chances to gain some confidence.
This guy took a real step back this year. He looked like a guy that would keep a rotation spot in Boston for the next 10 years. I am sure that is still the case, but his performance combined with Masterson and Bowdon creeping up .. means he may be sitting with the Sea Dogs or the Redsox bullpen is he keeps pitching like this.

They rushed Clay.
He had great success last year in the majors, but over a very small sample size.
They need to do now what they should've done to start the year, give him a year in the minors unless he REALLY shows he doesn't need it, then give him the call up.

The Kansas City Star reports that Alex Gordon has been diagnosed with a torn quadriceps muscle in his right leg and is expected to be placed on the disabled list.
IMO .. He's been a bust so far.

| It took alittle longer then expected but Johan is hitting his dominant stride. He's won his last 3 games givin up just 3 ER in 26 Innings. For the year he's 13-7, 2.50 ERA ... The numbers are pretty dam solid considering the bullpen probably lost him 3-4 games.

More bad news for the Met's bullpen.
NEW YORK -- Billy Wagner has more pain and swelling in his pitching elbow, and the New York Mets' All-Star closer is out indefinitely.
Wagner had an MRI exam Tuesday that revealed additional inflammation in his left elbow -- an alarming sign after he spent most of the past two weeks resting his ailing arm. Now, the NL East leaders don't know when he might be able to return to the mound, if at all, this season.

| Nelson Cruz has just been promoted to the Rangers tonight. Interesting player. He's 28 years old, he's been up a few times for a cup of coffee, but for the most part has been a career minor leaguer. This season this guy went apeshit in AAA. (.342BA, 39HR, 101RBI) and has forced Texas to bring him up. Sounds alittle like Mike Aviles ... Just a guy to keep an eye on if you need quick help in the OF.

They fucked with his pitching mechanics this year and kept him in the majors, which is a big issue for a young pitcher. I am on a first name basis with Clay, so I feel bad for the guy, but with the way he was pitching he had no business being in the majors. When I first met him last season, he was a arrogant peice of shit, and thought he was the greatest thing ever. This year his demeanor changed and he was alot less confident. To be a good pitcher, you have to have the mindset that you are better then the hitter, and I think that Clay didnt have that this year. I hope that spending the rest of this season in the minors helps his mental state, and that he comes up and is the #2 or #3 starter he should be next season. _________________

Last year, yes. He thought that he was the greatest pitcher in Boston since Pedro Martinez when he was in his prime. Then, he threw the no-hitter and he acted like a future HOF pitcher. Clay is a nice guy, dont get me wrong, but he was over confident and cocky last season, and more then normal pitchers. Pitchers are normally cocky individuals, but Clay was more cocky then anyone else. Like I said, that extreme self confidence was shaken early on, and he never regained it. Pitching is the most mental position in baseball, and I think Clays mindset is off. If he fixes that, then I think that he has the stuff to be a good pitcher. _________________

went deep tonight, including a 3-3 night so far. Took a chance on him before and got burnt so probably wont touch him for now. Tons of power however, K's alot.
