The site has it's very own Texas Holdem table which has members playing against each other 24/7! .. MLB Gameday audio only for the community. A live chat room, fantasy leagues with the winner landing up to 100 dollars in prizes. We also have our own FREE Baseball draft kit for our UM members, as well as an upcomming Football draft kit. We run our own monthly MILB prospect list. But most importantly .. The UM has grown into a community of sports friends. So jump in and, join the UM today! |

Obviously, nobody expected June Jones to arrive at SMU and create a national powerhouse overnight. Realistically, most people don't SMU to ever become a powerhouse. However, we would expect some sort of success, even in his first year.
Well, the season started off on a rough note today as SMU lost to Rice, 27-56. So, the question is, was leaving Hawaii the right thing to do for June?

I dont think there is any question he made the right move. From a recruiting standpoint hes gonna be in such better postition. I think I read back in January that Hawaii's recruiting budget was like a quarter of a million dollars. That may seem like a lot of money, but ever check plane tickets to Hawaii? At SMU its like 1 1/2 Million I think and travel is much cheaper with 90% of the players June will recruit will be from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arizona. I dont think he will be able o get many elite recruits to come to SMU, but like with Mike Leach at TT if you have an exciting system some players will be instantly intrested.
I also think it should be noted that every year small 1-A schools and 1-AA have great athletes go to the NFL and I think those are the guys you will see June get in the next few years. I would guess when hes recruiting against other conference USA teams in his region his system will be a good selling point. Assuming they can pass SMU's academic standards.
Now as far him being stupid...Not so much, although I do believe his belief in his system is a biT egotistical, but in the last 7 years his 2 QB's have set every passing record in NCAA history and he led Hawaii thats right Hawaii to a BCS game so maybe its justified. _________________

It won't hurt Jones in the least that he can enlist the help of SMU alum's like Eric Dickerson. Craig James, and Don Meredith. The school succeeded in getting Justin Willis who was easily one of the top five recruits in the country.Emmanuel Sanders will have success at WR, and again once high school players start seeing those type of results, more will be willing to give SMU a shot. The scandal years are now an entire generation ago so that will help as well.
Lot's of work to do, eventually though SMU can return to no longer being a laughing stock.
