Since no one else is talking about it I will.Selig thinks having instant replay start in mid-season is a good idea. What else should we expect from the guy who gave us the All-Star winners get homefield advantage for the World Series?

Hockey uses the minor leagues to try things out before it gets implemented into the NHL. Now that makes sense as you can fix any bugs that may occur. Not our boy Bud who says as soon as this upcoming week, instant replay can be used.Have you really thought about the implications Bud?

Here's one scenario.Toronto is in Boston,Rios is at first base, with Overbay hitting.Obvious hit and run situation and there is no score late in a ballgame. The hit goes down the line and originally is called a homerun by the first base umpire.Wait though the play gets reviewed and the ball actually hits off the wall even with Pesky's pole. Now that's a double but what do they do about the runner Rios who is an easy candidate to have scored even on a single, let alone a double, since he was off running before the pitch? My point is the variables in baseball are numerous.Instant replay should be tested out in the Arizona Fall League, spring training, and the World Baseball Classic next year before it is ever used in a Major League game.

I'm against the replays as it will slow the game down even more. Implementing it mid-season doesnt make sense at all. If they want to improve the game then get rid of those bats before someone gets seriously hurt. Human errors / blown calls are part of the game.

I have to agree with all of the above. Bud Selig is an idiot.

I like the human element in baseball, thus I am against the replay. I am very suprised he didn't wait until next year.

Selig is amazing. He seems like such a fool, yet he is presiding over an amazing period of growth and profit.

I like the rule as long as it is used for HR's as the parks have changed and there are many areas in the new ball parks that are hard to tell if it is a HR or not. From where the umpires stand they can not see all the nooks and crannies so only on instant replay can the real location of the ball be detected. I also have no issue with Implementing it mid-season. The goal is to improve the game and this has been a problem for years. There are not that many calls that we can not take a little time to be sure it was done right.

Darko, I don't see how you can say replays will slow down the game. Right now on a questionable home run call the umpires commiserate for a long time and there is always an argument from at least one if not both managers.

You could implement a fifth umpire, maybe a younger umpire, in the replay booth so when the need a replay you don't even need to stop the game. Just ask this guy, he'll say yes or no, and it's done!

As for human error, remind me why we want that? Remind me why the skill of the players shouldn't be the deciding factor?

I support this all the way, and think it should be instituted ASAP.

Yeah I don't get that. Now that we have the ability to fix mistakes, why not do it? Skill should determine the winner, not a random lucky call...

So you don't think the team that plays better and deserves to win should always win?

Why not have the "K Zone" determine balls and strikes? If the technology is not perfect now you know it will be in the coming years. When that happens do we take the ump from behind the plate?
