I don't get how all these trades are made with the deadline passed? Does anyone understand it?

The section on Waivers has a decent description.

Basically, any team can waive a player. If that player is claimed, a trade can be worked out between the two parties or the waiving team can just rescind the waiver. It's an interesting way to gauge trade interest, but you can only do it once per player per season.

The interesting thing is that any team with a worse record can block the trade. In this case, since the DBacks have such a bad record, the only contenter that could block them was the Dodgers, and if they do that they could get stuck with Dunn, and in their already filled outfield that's the last thing they want.

It was a brilliant move by the DBacks.

I was thinking that the Rockies might have tried to block it, but i guess they didn't want to risk keeping Dunn.
