According to the Denver Post, the Rays are prepared to make an offer for reliever Brian Fuentes.
The Rays have reportedly had scouts at Coors Field all weekend. Rays' prospects Wade Davis and Jeremy Hellickson are mentioned in the article as possible trade bait.

Helickson yes but they would be silly to give up Davis for someone like Fuentes...

I have noticed that they have not played well at all on the road against perspective playoff teams. that would concern me if I was a Rays fan.

I think the Rays need to make a move now before any more big name free agents come off the market. Fuentes is good, but I feel like their bullpen can hold up as it is; Percival and Wheeler are only decent but Howell and Balfour are both great.

They need another bat in the outfield. A lot of teams are eying Jeff Niemann, the former first round pick. I wonder why they don't deal him, with all the surplus starting pitching they have.

Not worried about that at all. I'm worried about a 3-33 run on the road like last year and missing the playoffs. Gotta get there first...

Very true. Making the playoffs would be a huge lift for the franchise.

I personally hope it doesn't happen since the Sox don't seem to be going away.

Longoria is currently leading Rays in HRs (16), RBIs (53), doubles (23), extra base hits (40), total bases (157) and SLG% (.525). Barring an injury he will brush aside Jacoby Ellsbury for the ROY award...

One thing Longoria really has going in his favour (not that he needs it) is the fact that Rays are 50-32 since he came up...

David Price has been promoted to Triple A. It looks likely now that they will be calling him up in September.
