The UM opened August 17th, 2007 as a handpicked 100 members who were asked to join for their smarts and community involvement. But the word got out that the UM neighborhood is not just your average start up community! .... Members begun jumping in from word of mouth .. and now the UM stands at 300+ members and over 30,000 posts and growing!
The site has it's very own Texas Holdem table which has members playing against each other 24/7! .. MLB Gameday audio only for the community. A live chat room, fantasy leagues with the winner landing up to 100 dollars in prizes. We also have our own FREE Baseball draft kit for our UM members, as well as an upcomming Football draft kit. We run our own monthly MILB prospect list. But most importantly .. The UM has grown into a community of sports friends. So jump in and, join the UM today! |

| Nice article Young buck. I like the fact that coaches in Football can only challenge a limited number of calls per game. It becomes another element of strategy. Now for Baseball, Personally I do not like it. The game is slow enough and I do not want something that seems to take up more time for them to decide.

| For Baseball, It's going to make a long game even longer. There are 3 to 4 umpires that can get a call right, most of the time.

What makes you so sure that it would make the game longer? Think of how long it takes now. Imagine that a player has just hit a contested home run. Here are the steps that usually occur:
1. One managed goes out to argue the call.
2. Umpires meet and uphold or change their call.
3. Regardless of the call, the manager on the short end of the stick goes out to argue.
4. Argument continues until the manager is ejected.
This process takes a long time. With instant replay, it would be as simple as waltzing over to a camera and taking two seconds to make the correct call. No arguing necessary, just pure, unafflicted fact.
Baseball needs to get out of the dark ages and use instant replay, before another disputed call ruins an important series.

Television/ESPN/Media ruins those series, not blown calls. There have been blown calls since day one of baseball's storied history (IT'S TRADITION!!! ) , it's just that there didn't used to be 500 replays of each one splattered all over the place the next morning.
The only reason I support instant replay is to kill all the negative drama that surrounds them these days. Still kinda sad though that my grandkids will never get the chance to yell at the ump or so to one another "man he really blew that fucking call - get your head out of your ass, ump!!!"? Totally unfair _________________

Well we still yell at NFL refs, don't we? Since not everything will be challangable, there's still hope.

No one is more of a purist than I am (says Mr. Obvious), but I think it should be used for home runs and fair/foul calls. It would be used maybe once a game. Maybe only once a series.
As long as it's limited to that, it should be done and it's certainly overdue. _________________
