They got Santana which now makes them clear favorites to take out the division. Mets should've taken it last year if not for that big collapse at the end, their young guys would've learned alot from that though so it may have been a blessing in disguise. Suddendly their staff is very good (Santana, Pedro, Maine, Perez, El Duque), but they do need help in pen. Great line up with Reyes at the top and Wright, Beltran and Delgado will provide all the power they need.
Very good line up led by Howard, Utley and Rollins. Victorino and Burrell arent slouches either so scoring runs will not be a problem at all for them. Pitching will however, Hamels and Myers are very good 1-2 combo, Kendrick is solid but young and unproven and what happens after him? Moyer, Eaton, Durbin? Ouch... Lidge is injured and I just dont liek him in that park (prone to give up long ball). Myers is in rotation now so Romero and Gordon will be relied to do heavy lifting in the pen. Unfortunately for Howard and co, pitching is what will bring them down.
Full year from Big Tex will help but can McCann and Francouer live up to their potential. Also can Chipper Jones stay realtively healthy and have as good year as he did last year. Kotsay in center with Anderson backing up isnt good at all.
Soriano is closing and will be pretty good but outside of my boy Peter Moylan they dont have much else. They need Mike Gonzalez healthy. Tim Hudson was good last year but was that just a fluke year or is he really settling in Atlanta. At best they will match last year's win total but expect them to be around .500 most of the season.
Moving to a hitters park will help. Look for a big year from Ryan Zimmerman, better year from Austin Kearns and a rebound year from Nick Johnson (remember him?). They improved their outfield with additions of Pena, Dukes and Milledge. While every 1 is talking about Pena as the breakout candidate, he still needs to learn to hit off speed pitching (or at least lay off it), people are forgetting about Lasting Milledge. This is the OF in Nats system everyone should be watching ... mark my words. Pitching is a mess, easily worst pitching in majors. Patterson cant stay healthy and Shawn Hill is just ok. Pen is solid though with Chad Cordero, Rauch and Ayala.
They dismantled their roster but did very well to get top prospects in return. Maybin should start at CF even though another year in minors will do him world of good. Hermida is a big time sleeper (check his 2nd half stats). They are taking a chance on Dallas McPherson at 3B and as long as his back can hold up, he jsut might be ok. Solid pen led by their closer Kevin Gregg, Tankersley, Lindstrom and Milelr are solid. Scott Olsen needs to put 2007 behind him, Miller is very promising, Mitre is solid. They need Josh Johnson, Anibal Sanchez and Ricky Nolasco to stay healthy.

| everything you said is absolutley correct, but the Phils got their swagger going and if they can find one starting pitcher and one reliever to have surprisingly efficient or quality years then i think they'll take it down.

I agree with most everything. I basically see it as a three team race with the healthiest prevailing. If Santana or two other starters go down, the Mets are in trouble. Hamels and Myers are both sure to spend at least a month or two on the bench a piece. The Braves always find a way to get it done and injuries will be least forgiving in their situation. _________________ Signatures are for pussies.
