The UM opened August 17th, 2007 as a handpicked 100 members who were asked to join for their smarts and community involvement. The site has it's very own Texas Holdem table which has members playing against each other 24/7! .. MLB Gameday audio only for the community. A live chat room, fantasy leagues with the winner landing up to 100 dollars in prizes. We also have our own FREE Baseball draft kit for our UM members, as well as an upcomming Football draft kit. And there will be even less interest in Olympic baseball now.

Reading this, I can understand why my grandfather refuses to watch "game deciding" penalty shots in any hockey games. He grew up in Toronto and played for the Bruins minor league team.

I am not really at all. I am German and part French Fry. 3/4 of my parents have been here for a long time. Grandmother and the Dad's side were originally all from East Orange, moved to Philly, and then where I am now. He happened to grow up in Toronto, played hockey, and then dropped off the kids in the womb. Really no ties up there other than me liking hockey. Great country though and I wish I had duel citizenship.

| I went to Canada once. Actually, twice. Had an emergency landing in trip #2. Landed in a little po-dunk town on Lake Superior. The first trip was a lot less exciting, we went fishing in Flin Flon (way out nowhere).

I used to go to a real cheap strip club when I was in college at UVM in Canadia. My buddy puked on the back of a "dancer" while she was giving him head. Never went back.
From then on we mostly went to St. Catherine's St. Montreal is a fun city.
Wish I like Hockey. Tried to get into it last year and failed miserably.
Had to scan up to the start of this thread to remember the topic.
Oh yea. Olympic baseball sucks

Yeah I wished more people liked it as well. I think it's like anything else, you need to have a guide to get you into it. Great sport and I rate it above football.

With all due respect to our athletes, it's hard to get into US Olympic baseball in the first place when our team is comprised of a handful of AA standouts then a rag-tag bunch of roster fillers that major league team's actually made available. Our nation's best-- HA! No major league talent, few current top prospects... our own nation doesn't care about it, why should we? [Then, further perpetuated by this BLASPHEMY]
PS-- still want to get up to Vancouver, BC one of these days.... some time when the snow is aplenty and I don't have random drug tests hanging over my head.

Great city been there many times when I was near Seattle. Tons of beaver.
Anyhow, I agree with that statement and it's a shame that basketball works out and baseball doesnt. It's the only major sport out of the three Olympic sports that does not bring the best of the best. I dont care about the season, take a break and stretch it out once every four years. Guys used to get deployed for war. The game goes on.

I think the biggest problem is that I never played so I have trouble picking up what a skillful play is. The nuances are totally lost on me.

I've watched a combined 4 innings of Olympic baseball so far, however...
Brett Anderson (P - OAK/USA) vs. Yu Darvish (P - JPN) for the Bronze Medal-- might actually be worth checking out.
