This bullpen is driving me absolutely nuts. Another 9th inning lead blown and it's against the terrible Pittsburgh Pirates. There will be no baseball in October at Shea with this this closer by committee group.

Looking as though all 3 teams in the NL East will struggle to the finish of the season. They are all losing to teams they should beat. When they go to head to head, no one is able to sweep the other as well.

Yeah the only hope for the East is that someone gets hot towards the end of the season. Otherwise they are one and done in the playoffs.

They probably should have tried to get Bradford (again). It's been painful to watch this pen lately.

time for Kuntz to start closing games like that. With a last name like that, he must be oblivious to not have murdered someone for making a lame joke about his last name

You can get him a day pass from the Flushing retirement home.Bribe the guard with 50 bucks and he can even stay out long enough for a double-header. mr zgreenz1

That might all be true is his name wasn't KUNZ.

Mets added Luis Ayala to their pen. 2B Anderson Hernandez is going the other way.

""Billy Wagner has more pain and swelling in his pitching elbow, and the New York Mets’ All-Star closer is out indefinitely. Wagner had an MRI on Tuesday that revealed additional inflammation in his left elbow—an alarming sign after he spent most of the past two weeks resting his ailing arm. Now, the NL East leaders don’t know when he might be able to return to the mound, if at all, this season.""

Last I heard was that Mets are flirting with an idea of John Maine closing...

I got ripped bigtime at FIC for saying the Mets would swoon down the stretch in my predictions and not win the NL East.I just don't see them having the arms to win the division.

as a huge met fan, I want to disagree with you, but the bullpen will be their demise. their starters have been the best in baseball the past 2 months....but the pen will ruin any hopes unless it turns around

It wasn't just the bullpen that was leading me to that conclusion.I didn't think Delgado would be awesome,I also felt Reyes and Wright were not going to have huge years either.Man were guys ripping into that part especially.Hmmm has Wright been the dominant guy? No. Has Reyes been like last year? Not until late June.

I think Wright and Reyes are flying under some radar. check the stats. Reyes is leading the league in hits, triples, second in steals and batting over .300. I will take that. he has been pretty consistant all season, but he has turned it up more in the mast 2 months, that is true. His D has been shoddy, but we know he normally isnt like that.

Now as for Wright, what else can u ask for someone? Guy is a finalist for NL MVP so far. batting .291, 24 HR, 97 RBI, all with the league leaders. Also has 34 doubles which ranks him up there too. Throw in 14 steals, and that is a pretty solid season, I must say. No one expected him to have Pujols numbers, but these are very much something I'd take from any teams #3 hitter.

as far as Delgado goes, i didnt think he had any of this left and that has been the difference maker especially that they lost Church and Alou.

There's few Mets homers on there. I picked them to win the division as well - just thought that Philly had bigger pitching problems than Mets.
